Educated at Howardian High School, Cardiff and Churchill College, University of Cambridge, UK, Dr Stotter was Lecturer in Chemistry at the University of Essex, UK, and the author of many chemical research publications, before joining Shell Research Ltd. in 1977. He moved rapidly into the downstream oil business and worked for Shell International Petroleum Company for 18 years in a number of management positions. These included: Lubricants Trading Manager in Shell Hamburg, Germany; Coordination Manager for the International Marine Lubricants and Fuels Business, based in London; Supply & Trading Manager in Shell Taiwan; Business Development Consultant in the joint-venture CPC-Shell Lubricants Company in Taiwan; and General Manager of Shell Zagreb in Croatia, Eastern Europe.

Dr Stotter left Shell in 1995 and represented Chem Systems, an international business consulting company (now part of IBM) in Taiwan before moving to Thailand in 1996 to join Chem Systems’ Bangkok office as Senior Consultant. He has now established Asia Consult Ltd, an independent consulting company.

Dr Stotter has undertaken fieldwork and performed a range of market evaluations in Thailand, Taiwan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, South Korea, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Southern China.
